Terri Bay is an embroidery teacher and designer from South Carolina. Her passions are Whitework and Blackwork either separate or dancing a beautiful duet with each other. Terri has taught for many years at various shops, retreats, EGA chapter workshops, and EGA seminars.
Cindy Valentine is a needlework designer and teacher located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Cindy is dedicated to making her innovative and elegant designs interesting and accessible to stitchers at all levels.
Caribbean Sunset Sachet by Terri Bay
9am - 4pm
Imagine the luxury of having your garments surrounded by the gentle scent of lavender. This luxury can be yours with Caribbean Sunset, a lovely Hardanger Embroidery Sachet pillow. This dainty sachet is 4 ½ inches wide and is worked on 28 count linen with Valdani Pearl Cotton. Basic Hardanger skills are a plus, such as being able to work Klosters and Blanket stitch. Terri will give you tips and techniques in fabric thread cutting, eyelets and creating an even blanket stitch edging.

Contemporary Band Sampler
(Hardanger and other counted thread stitches)
Level: intermediate to advanced. Students should be able to read a chart, count on linen and know how to make Klosters, wrapped bars and needlewoven bars.
Pre-homework: Approximately 12 hours – (optional)
Students will learn 24 different stitches as they work this band sampler that can be either framed, or finished as a bell-pull. The focus will be on the stitches and the textures they create as well as using positive and negative space and how color impacts the space. The instructor will provide some various threads and beads for sharing. Experimentation with various threads and colors is highly encouraged. Tips are given to improve color sense and to perfect stitching ability.

Ukrainian Whitework Building Blocks – Beginner Level by Terri Bay

The Building Blocks series was created to teach Ukrainian Whitework from the beginner level through the advanced level. This beginner level piece is intended to introduce the needle worked to the techniques and stitches of Ukrainian Whitework. It may be used as a first step into this genre by the beginner, or by the advanced stitcher to brush up on skills already in place and to learn new applications for their skills. The block measures 4 inches square and is worked on 28 count linen with pearl cotton.

Class objective: Finishing
Level: Intermediate stitcher -
Pre-homework: All stitching should be complete prior to class
The focus of this class is finishing. Students will learn three different finishing techniques that are low cost and easy to do.
Kit and detailed stitching instructions will be sent by August 1st so students can stitch project prior to boarding for our cruise.
Cindy will be available by email and private facebook group for questions and demos if needed.
Kit includes: Full color chart and instructions 28 count Light Sand Cashel Linen, all threads, beads, lining, and notions needed to complete the projects. Students need to supply usual kit of needles, sharp scissors, and sewing (not embroidery) scissors for cutting fabric.

Cindy has written a Group Correspondence course for the Embroiderer’s Guild of America (EGA) and The American Needlepoint Guild (ANG). She has also written a Workshop by Mail for ANG. She has taught at EGA National and Region seminars, as well as for shops, chapters, guilds and retreats. Her designs have been published in “The Cross Stitcher” magazine, “Just Cross Stitch,” “The Gift of Stitching” and “Needlepoint Now.” She has been featured as a “Designer Across America” in “Needlearts.”
She is a member of the Chicora Stitchers Chapter of the Embroiderer’s Guild of America.
